What It Does

AutoMatte batch pre-composes RGB multimattes into separate pre-comps with transparent backgrounds. This solves a common problem in 3D compositing workflows where you need to convert channel-based mattes into individual layers you can actually work with.

Instead of manually separating and pre-composing each channel from a render, AutoMatte does it automatically. You get individual pre-comps for each matte that can be used as adjustment layers or fed into other plugins.

Key Features

Batch pre-composing. Select a layer with RGB multimattes and AutoMatte creates individual pre-comps for each channel, all with transparent backgrounds.

Resize options. Each newly created pre-comp can be resized to match your composition dimensions or other specifications.

Custom naming. Set global prefixes and suffixes, plus per-channel naming options, to keep your project organized as it generates pre-comps.

Who It’s For

Mostly useful for 3D compositors working with render passes from Cinema 4D, Blender, or other 3D applications. If you regularly work with multi-channel mattes and find yourself manually pre-composing them, this script eliminates that step.
