What It Does
Automatic Whiteboard converts text layers and masks into write-on animations with a single click. Type your text, draw some masks, and let the script handle the tedious sequencing of mask paths and position keyframes. The result is a whiteboard-style reveal that would otherwise require manual keyframing for each character or shape.
The script works with standard After Effects text layers and masks. You can control whether to include a drawing hand or let the animation reveal on its own. All animations are resolution-independent up to 4K, matching the resolution of your composition.
Key Features
8 rendering styles. Choose from clean paper, dirty paper, old parchment, blackboard, or basic outlines for custom compositing. Each style sets up your composition with appropriate textures and backgrounds.
Hand drawing options. Select from 20 different hand designs to draw on your animation, or skip the hand entirely. The hand follows the animation path as text and shapes reveal.
Animation controls. Set the overall duration, add wiggle effects (like in the Red Bull ads), and choose left-to-right or right-to-left direction. Wiggle adds a hand-drawn, slightly imperfect feel to the animation.
Bonus scripts. Two included utilities help separate and sort mask paths, useful when working with complex Illustrator artwork. Pasted Illustrator vectors can give poor results without preparation, but these tools improve the outcome.
