What It Does

AutoCollapse solves a specific problem: blurry vector graphics in After Effects. When you scale or transform vector layers in nested compositions, they can become pixelated unless you enable Collapse Transformations. This script applies that setting across your entire project in one click, including layers buried in deeply nested comps and even locked layers.

Key Features

Batch processing. Instead of manually enabling Collapse Transformations on each layer, AutoCollapse applies it to all qualifying layers at once. You can target the entire project or manually select specific layers.

Layer type filtering. Choose which types of layers to affect: regular layers, precomp layers, nested compositions, or locked layers. Disable a checkbox to exclude that type.

Exclude specific layers. Lock any layers you want to skip, then disable the “Include Locked” checkbox. Those layers won’t be touched.

Detailed notifications. After running the script, you’ll see how many layers were updated, how many already had Collapse enabled, and how many don’t support the feature. You can customize this notification or turn it off entirely.

Workspace management. The script panel can minimize to a small toggle button, keeping your After Effects workspace clean. Click the button to restore the full interface when needed.

Who It’s For

This script is useful if you work with vector graphics in After Effects, especially in projects with multiple nested compositions. Motion graphics designers and editors who scale logos, icons, or shape layers across comps will see immediate benefit. It’s also helpful for anyone who wants to standardize settings across a large project without clicking through every layer.

Pricing

AutoCollapse uses a pay-what-you-want model. There’s no required minimum, so you can download it for free or pay what you think it’s worth. The suggested price on aescripts is $12.99, but you set the amount.
