What It Does
Fiesta is an animated sans serif typeface built as a JSX format for After Effects. Created by First Image and distributed through Animography, it features extruded letter shapes with multiple color layers that animate on and off screen. The typeface works with Font Manager for lightweight integration into After Effects projects without bloating file sizes.
The plugin has been discontinued but represents Animography’s approach to animated typography: characters built from exposed paths, keyframes, and expressions that scale infinitely without quality loss.
Key Features
12 independent color layers. Each character uses multiple color segments that can be controlled separately. Change hues, adjust timing, or isolate specific layers to create variations.
X and Y scatter controls. Position individual letter segments slightly off their final placement for a handmade look. Pair this with corner rounding and subtle displacement for an imperfect, crafted style.
Wipe and rotation options. Animate characters in with customizable wipe directions. Add random rotation to segments for variety between letters.
Displacement texturing. Control displacement size and amount to add organic distortion. Works well when subtle, creating a texture that looks hand-drawn rather than computer-generated.
Multiply color mode. Layer color effects using multiply blending for richer color interactions between the 12 base colors.
compCode construction. Built using the compCode system, each character is a composition with exposed controls rather than a static render. This means you can keyframe any parameter or drive it with expressions.
Who It’s For
Title designers working on projects where typography is a focal point. The extruded shapes and color variety make Fiesta suitable for festival branding, music videos, or any work where bold, geometric type needs motion.
Motion designers who want customizable animated type without building characters from scratch. The JSX format integrates with Font Manager, letting you type normally while accessing animation controls.
Anyone creating work with a handmade aesthetic. The scatter and displacement controls turn clean geometric shapes into something that feels crafted when you push the settings toward imperfection.
Pricing
Originally sold for $44.99 (reduced from $59.99), this typeface has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase. Animography offered a bundle discount of 25% when ordering four or more typefaces, though this no longer applies.
The typeface supported a free trial through Font Manager, limited to characters A, B, and C. Full unlock required a license key valid for up to three computers at one location.
