What It Does
AEVIEWER 2 Pro replaces After Effects’ default media browser with something that actually works. Preview After Effects projects, Motion Graphics Templates, fonts, audio files, images, and scripts without opening them. Import with a single click, organized through collections, search, and quick access folders.
Key Features
Project previewing. See thumbnails of AEP, MOGRT, PRPROJ, C4D, PSD, AI, and FFX files before importing. The plugin auto-generates previews, showing compositions without launching separate instances of After Effects.
Audio waveforms. Hover over audio files to hear them, with visual waveforms for WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG, M4A, and AAC formats. Useful when searching through large sound libraries.
Font preview and application. Type custom preview text to see how fonts look. Double-click to apply a font directly to selected text layers. Works with system fonts and animated typefaces.
Collections and organization. Create virtual folders for mood boards, project references, or thematic groups. Add files from different locations without copying them. Drag files to reorder. Pack and share collections with collaborators.
Expression preset library. Select an expression, click to save it as a preset with thumbnail and description. Build your own expression library across projects.
Batch operations. Import multiple files at once with options like “import and replace” or “import and precomp.” Rename files in batches. Reduce AEP file sizes by up to 90% by stripping unused elements.
Script integration. Add JSX and JSXBIN scripts to the sidebar for one-click execution. Organize scripts into custom categories.
Package system. Install template packs (.aevpack files) that other creators can distribute. Supports encrypted packs and trial modes. Authors can use the Prerender tab to create packages with auto-generated previews.
List mode. Beyond standard thumbnail grids, the Pro version includes a detailed list view showing file metadata like resolution, duration, and codec information at a glance.
Sequence detection. Recognizes image sequences and displays them as single items. Import entire sequences with proper settings automatically configured.
Premiere Pro support. The same interface works in Premiere Pro for previewing and importing MOGRTs, media files, and project assets.
