What It Does
Ae Voice Recorder lets you record audio directly inside After Effects without switching to an external program. Set a timeline position, hit record, and capture voice-overs, scratch audio, client feedback, or notes while the composition plays back. The plugin supports your computer’s built-in microphone, webcam mics, or external recording devices.
Current limitation: Windows only. macOS support is planned but not yet available.
Key Features
Basic recording. Position the playhead on your timeline, click record, and the plugin captures audio in sync with playback. Saves the recording as a layer you can trim, adjust, or replace.
Speech to text. Select an audio layer and convert spoken words to text in any language. Useful for generating subtitles from recorded voice-overs or reference audio.
Text to speech. Type or paste text, choose a language, and the plugin generates a synthetic voice layer. Works for placeholder narration or multilingual projects where you need quick audio mockups.
Subtitle creation. Takes text (either transcribed from audio or manually entered) and formats it as subtitle layers. Lets you position and style captions without leaving After Effects.
Text translation. Translate subtitle text or manually entered copy into different languages. Handles both transcribed speech and typed input, which helps when you’re localizing projects.
Who It’s For
Motion designers recording scratch audio for client reviews. Editors who need quick voice-overs for animatics or internal drafts. Anyone building multilingual video content who wants to generate and translate subtitles in one place. Not a replacement for professional audio recording setups, but practical for iteration and rough cuts.
