What It Does
AE Notepad 2 adds a notepad panel to After Effects and Premiere Pro where you can write free-form notes or create timestamped task lists. Notes save with your project files, timestamps link to specific frames in your timeline, and you can export everything as a PDF for client reviews or team handoffs.
Key Features
Two work modes. Canvas gives you a scratchpad for brainstorming and rough ideas. Todo mode turns notes into actionable tasks with priority labels.
Timestamped tasks. Every task captures the current composition time when you create it. Click that timestamp later to jump straight back to the exact frame, no scrubbing required.
Priority labels. Tag tasks as Urgent, Normal, or Done. Each label gets its own color so you can scan your list at a glance.
Project-based storage. Notes save directly to your AE or Premiere project. Open the project weeks later, hit load, and your notes reappear exactly as you left them.
PDF export. Turn your notes into a formatted document for sharing with clients or other editors who don’t have the plugin.
Rich text support. Canvas mode lets you format notes with bold, italics, and other styling (added in version 2.1.0).
Comp tags. Attach notes to specific compositions so you know which tasks belong where in complex multi-comp projects.
Autosave. Notes save automatically every five seconds. No more losing work when After Effects decides to crash.
