What It Does

3D to 2D ScreenSpace converts a 3D layer’s position into an animated 2D null object that follows the 3D point’s screen-space location. Select a 3D layer, press a button, and get a null you can use to attach 2D elements like lens flares, text, or graphics that stick to 3D objects as they move through your composition.

Key Features

Link mode. Press the Link button to create a new null connected to your 3D layer via expression. The null updates live as the 3D layer moves, rotates, or the camera changes.

Bake mode. Press Bake to convert the tracking data into keyframes immediately. Useful when you need the animation data without maintaining the expression link.

The tool handles the math of projecting 3D coordinates onto a 2D plane, which normally requires custom expression writing. Instead, you get a working null in one click.

Who It’s For

Motion designers working with mixed 2D/3D compositions. If you’ve ever needed to attach a lens flare to a 3D model, or position text that follows a rotating 3D logo, this solves that specific problem. Also useful for compositors who need to track graphic elements to 3D-tracked footage.
