What It Does
3D Paper Jam generates animated paper folding and jamming effects directly in After Effects. The plugin simulates 3D paper surfaces that fold, crumple, and move, creating the appearance of physical paper manipulation without requiring external 3D software.
The effect works on any layer and links transparency to a control layer, meaning you can apply it to text, shapes, or footage and maintain alpha channels throughout the animation.
Key Features
Four jam modes. Switch between different folding and jamming behaviors to match your animation style.
Animated geometry parameters. Keyframe fold angles, segment counts, and deformation settings to create custom paper movements.
Pseudo 3D shading. The plugin applies simulated lighting and shadows to flat layers, giving them a dimensional appearance without converting them to true 3D layers.
Two-sided rendering. Control how the front and back of the paper surface appear, useful for revealing content as the paper folds.
Motion Blur Hack. Adds motion blur to the effect, which isn’t standard for plugin-generated geometry in After Effects.
No precomposing required. Apply the effect directly to layers in your main composition. Transparency from your original layer passes through to the folded result.
Who It’s For
Useful for title animations, logo reveals, or transitions where you want a tactile, paper-like aesthetic. Works well for projects that need a handmade or organic feel, like documentary titles or educational content.
